Antigua Winds, Inc. Mike Maass helped launch Antigua Winds, Inc. in the Midwest in the mid 1990s through Maass' Noteworthy Music Marketing, Inc. (now Maass Musical,LLC). Working with Georgia Star (former Antigua owner), Noteworthy pioneered mainly saxophones for Antigua Winds. Antigua was one of the first to bring high quality saxophones, made in Taiwan, to the USA market. These instruments had better features than many of the domestic student instruments at the time, and had more competitive prices for the end user. Since then, virtually all of the USA manufacturers have followed this trend, and one could say that Antigua was very much ahead of it's time. Currently, Antigua has expanded it's line greatly and continues to do so with the addition of "Power Bell" professional instruments, "XP" budget instruments (to help dealers better serve price-point shoppers) and soon, the new "VOSI" line of school music student instruments (to give young players unequalled quality and value in student wind instruments). The Vosi School Music Instrument Line premiered at the 2009 Winter NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants ). Di Zhao Flutes

At the end of 1992 Di Zhao was hired to work for Verne Q. Powell Flutes, beginning his 15 year flute making career. During his over 13 years of work at Powell, Mr. Zhao mastered all aspects of flute production. He worked as a padder, headjoint maker, stringer, and body maker. Many of the flutes Di Zhao has made were for hundreds of famous flutists around world. In 2002 he was promoted to Powell’s Vice president of Quality. Since working for Powell, Mr. Zhao has also worked at Williams Hayes Flute Inc as the Vice President and General Manager. He has done consultant work for many other companies. Trombones by Maass is a very special project we have been working on for quite some time. It is a reflection of our extensive experience in the trombone business. As "a good listener", Maass knows the sound that serious players desire from their equipment. Our manufacturing contacts allow us to source high quality manufactured products and parts in addition to top notch warranty service and marketing. Our initial offerings are simple and straight-forward...two large bore Bb tenor trombones with open-wrap F-attachments; one with a gold brass bell and one with a yellow brass bell.
